Circular Fashion

A little fresh air and gentle activity can do wonders for your physical and mental health, and Wild Atlantic Surf Co is encouraging you to put down the box set and start lacing up your trainers to discover more of what your beautiful area has to offer.

To truly be at one with nature, you need to be comfortable in your apparel. Outdoor clothes are designed to be tough, but when there is so much to choose from, how do you select an outdoor capsule wardrobe that’s up to the task of being sustainable as well?

What is a capsule wardrobe?

By narrowing down the items that you wear outdoors to thoughtfully selected items, you are not only saving yourself multiple decisions but creating a lifestyle fix. The fashion industry is one of the biggest polluters in the world so changing your clothing habits is a step in the right direction to helping the planet in the long term.

Why are consumers moving towards sustainability in fashion?

It is important to be mindful of how our fashion purchases might improve our lives and those in the world around us. At Wild Atlantic Surf Co we know that quality over quantity, reducing waste and saving money, in the long run, are the top 3 priorities of our shoppers.

Sustainable Fashion creates less waste, ensures fair wages and proper working conditions, reduces CO2 and other Greenhouse Gases emissions, and saves water and the lives of many animals.

Customers concerned with the social and environmental issues mentioned above are now demanding sustainable and ethical fashion. Those businesses that do not respond quickly enough risk being left behind.

What is Circular Fashion?

The term describes closed-loop systems, or manufacturing approaches aiming to recover discarded materials and waste, and reintegrate them into production.

‘Making fashion circular’ is already helping businesses answer today’s most prevalent customer demands, while at the same time circulating valuable materials and reducing waste and pollution.

Perhaps the sector that currently benefits the most from designing durable clothing is outdoor clothing companies whose customers seek high-performing gear. Wild Atlantic Surf Co has gone a step further. Our brand ensures that its garments are designed according to circular design principles, all printed in organic, water-soluble ink with the ambition of becoming a positive and regenerative force in society and nature.

What items from Wild Atlantic Surf Co make the perfect sustainable wardrobe for all seasons?

Wet & Dry Changing Robe

The wet & dry changing robe is a shower-proof, fleece-lined zip-up with kimono sleeves, which will stand the test of time. Due to the ‘one size fits all’ nature of the robe, this means that not only is the robe of high quality but it can be passed down through families and will not end up in a landfill as you cannot outgrow the size. It is very spacious making getting changed underneath it much more comfortable, with the bonus of being able to remove your wetsuit in privacy.

We pride ourselves on the fact that our changing robe is a slow fashion piece, a concept that advocates for manufacturing concerning people, the environment and animals. This means that we do not hold excess stock of different sizes so there is no wastage in the manufacturing process.

Wild Atlantic Surf Co Apparel Range

All of our apparel is made from 100% organic cotton grown without using fertilizers, pesticides, and other toxic chemicals. It is an environmentally friendly method that uses lower carbon due to lesser fuel and energy consumption. It goes through a chemical-free production process and therefore prevents water contamination. The health of workers is also not compromised.

There are no chemical retentions from organic cotton or water-soluble ink used in our hoodies, t-shirts, sweatshirts and bags; thus, people with allergies or with specific chemical sensitivity will greatly benefit from our choice of apparel clothing fabric.

What Are The Benefits of Water Soluble ink?

All our 100% organic range is printed in water-soluble ink. As water-based inks are free from harmful chemicals, they are safe not just for the environment but for printers to use as well. There are no harsh chemicals or solvents that the user can inhale, and they wash up easily in water.

As a compound, water-based ink is much more gentle on the environment than plastisol ink. It simply doesn't contain any of the toxic chemicals of its plastisol counterparts. It is non-toxic and does not contain any lead or heavy metals, nor do they contain o-zone depleting chemicals like chlorofluorocarbons (CFC's) or other volatile solvents.

How We Partner With A Sustainable Supplier

All of our apparel is not only made from natural materials but by using renewable energy. The factor that supplies our apparel in the UK is all powered and driven by solar panels.

All our packaging is 100% plastic-free including the tape that the products are wrapped in.

Everything is designed from the start to be sent back when it is worn out. Instead of making waste, new products are made from recovered materials. This is Wild Atlantic Surf Co’s commitment to the circular supply chain. These products can continue to be returned and remade again and again.

It's free to send our worn-out products back to our partner factory and they even pay the postage in the UK. They recover and remanufacture the material into a new product and all you need to do is scan the care label and follow the steps there.

Wild Atlantic Surf Co delivers Sustainable clothing made from natural materials, using renewable energy and in plastic-free packaging. Circular Fashion and supply chain is at the heart of our values.
