surfers against sewage
Wild Atlantic Surf Co announced today their corporate sponsorship of UK charity Surfers Against Sewage and commitment for the 2019-2020 season. Surfers Against Sewage campaign to protect oceans, beaches, waves and wildlife, all campaigns dear to Wild Atlantic Surf Co. The UK based environmental charity runs beach cleans across the UK and Northern Ireland and celebrates over 29 years as of pushing on eco issues, water quality and plastic free coastlines campaigns. Wonder if these issues affect you, or us over here on our island? Well, it does and massively. Here's a few words from Surfers Against Sewage : With 1 in 3 fish caught for human consumption now containing plastic, the question is no longer are we eating plastic but how bad for us is that? In seawater plastic absorbs chemicals like PCB’s and DDT’s which have been linked to endocrine disruption and even some cancers, becoming more powerful as they work their way up the food chain. The beach is where we go to connect with nature and put simply, it’s not the same if it’s covered in plastic. Some of us rely on it being clean for our livelihoods with coastal tourism being worth £5.5 billion to the UK economy. Even if we don’t eat fish, or even go to the beach, all of us without doubt, breathe! And all that delicious oxygen? 70% of it is produced by marine plants, so we need to take care of it! Wild Atlantic Surf Co are committed to positive change for the Ocean and our environment. We urge you to be the same and in choosing some of our selected products, you are committing to choices we have made to achieve sustainability and a smarter option for the Ocean we not only surf, swim and fish from, but need to survive.
