The best time to go skiing is between December and April – which is the main ski season in most resorts. Whether this means enjoying apres-ski, slipping over in the street or snowball fights, the main aim is to not come home in a full cast. Even if the weather is not freezing, you can rest assured that your skin will take a good beating from the wind, sun and the constant change in temperatures.
The days of throwing on a summer dress, or a pair of shorts over a damp swimsuit have disappeared. As the shiver seasons of autumn/winter roll in, it is imperative to prepare for cold water swimming and the aftermath of the big chill.
One of the questions amongst those getting into surfing, open water swimming or any activity in cold conditions is, “Will I get sick?”
In Ireland and the UK the word summer has little bearing on the weather, and we can usually expect our fair share of rainy days and low temperatures even at this time of year. You only have to look out your window to be reminded!
